About Us

Springville Youth Football began in 1966 with 8 volunteers who went to the bank and signed for a loan to buy equipment. Frank Hunt, Dick Carter, Levar Daview, Morris Thorpe, Maury Thomas, Jack Windly and Mark Bringhurst started a tradition with a lot of time and hard work that continues today. Over the past 40 years hundreds of volunteers have helped make this one of the best youth programs in the area.
Past commissioners have included: Dick Carter, Frank Hunt, Rich Thorpe, John Child, Kenneth Averett and Danny Duncan. Current commissioners are Brian Smith and Greg Thorpe.
The league began with four teams of seventh and eighth graders: Rotary, Snow Dairy, Quality Cleaners and GS Wood. When GS Wood burned down, Bona Signs took over as a new team sponsor.
Games were played at the old Springville North Park (100 W. 900 N.) until they moved to the new high school in the late 70's. Thousands of young men have participated and learned the game of football and almost as many young women have participated in the cheerleading program.
Football for a Lifetime
The league has produced such players as former Head Football Coach Doug Bills, BYU standout running back Scott Phillips, offensive lineman Isaac Herring, offensive lineman John Skiba, defensive back Jason Walker, U of U and NFL quarterback Scott Mitchell, U of U lineman Todd Jackson, center Darren Walker, defensive back Eric Jacobson, Cody Weight, tight end Chad Jacobson, and Weber State standout running back Trevin Smith.
Our Sponsors
The Springville Youth Football League is very grateful to its dedicated sponsors. We couldn't provide such a wonderful program without your support! Thank you!
